Dr. Sherrie Smith

DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Bio

Dr. Sherrie Smith brings a compassionate, deeply informed perspective to mental health care. Her passion for psychiatry began early in her career while working in the emergency department, where she witnessed firsthand how underserved individuals with mental illness and neurological disorders were within the healthcare system. Recognizing their vulnerability, she committed herself to treating the whole person — not just a diagnosis — while helping patients navigate stigma with dignity and strength.
Dr. Smith has worked in psychiatric departments, community mental health clinics, and Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams. She has also co-facilitated grief groups for individuals who have lost loved ones to suicide. Throughout her nursing and graduate studies, she remained focused on expanding access to compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care.
