Genomic Testing
What is Genomic Testing?
Genomics is the study of DNA and how it interacts within the body. We use GeneSight to incorporate genomic data to understand how your body might respond to a certain medication and dosage.
How does Genomic Testing work?
The DNA kits and results are provided and run by GeneSight. After the initial assessment, the test is ordered by your provider and includes supplies to collect a cheek swab which can then be mailed directly to the lab. Results are emailed to the ordering provider and a follow-up consultation will be scheduled. A report is generated with a list of medications and how they may interact with particular genes.
The testing includes the MTHFR variant. A variant of this enzyme can be associated with mental health conditions such as depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety.
Patients interested in Genomic Testing must be seen by one of our providers and can request a kit be ordered on their behalf.
